EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT GRANTS (EEGs)
Each school year, an Educational Enhancement Grant (EEG) application is made available to the PS/IS 187 teachers by the PTO. This is an opportunity for the teachers to request funds for any materials/activities that would enhance the learning experience for their students during the current school year. For example, past grants funded class field trips, educational materials, musical instruments, book/magazine subscriptions, and more.
To apply for the grant, the teachers from each grade level first get together to discuss their needs. They then complete and submit their EEG forms to the PTO Executive Board. At a PTO General Meeting, the requests are then presented to the parent body for approval. All parents attending the meeting take a vote to determine if all or some of the grants are funded.
